<title>Client shows strange behavior with Qt 4.6.0</title>
<link>http://www.holdingnuts.net/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=178#178</link>
<guid isPermaLink="false">178@http://www.holdingnuts.net/forum</guid>
<description>Short note for people building HoldingNuts from source and using Qt 4.6.0: A bug in Qt 4.6.0 causes the HoldingNuts client to display the wrong playing cards, which makes the gameplay quite unusable (the chat-log is not affected, it displays the correct cards).This issue is already fixed in Qt's Git repository (commit f708b24) and with this it'll be fixed in Qt 4.6.1 release.Possible workarounds: * temporary: disable PixmapCache somewhere globally * use a previous version (e.g. Qt 4.5.3) * wait for Qt 4.6.1 * use the pre-compiled HoldingNuts binary package

<description>Hi radecp,
radecp wrote:Furthermore I understand that the user: donflopez, is doing the translation to Spanish, I hope you still follow it, otherwise I would be happy to do so in the least possible time.
Thanks for your help offer. At the current state it doesn't make sense to localize any strings in the client. However, I would write you two via email if the interface is ready for a new translation. Besides: If you want to you could do a translation of 0.0.5 and I'll provide a download link for that on the website. There's an open option for having a very last 0.0.x release - in this case the translation would be included (as well as pending Russian). If you're interested, drop me a mail and I'll send you the latest translation template.
radecp wrote:According to what I understand. in a few months we will implement a new client / server system?
Yes and no: There's a bigger refactoring in progress so there will be a new client/server system. However, as I've got very limited time at the moment it's unlikely to appear soon... can't say when.

<description>Congratulations.Very good job what they are doing.Hoping that in future versions to implement the option MTT. This would be great to organize tournaments with many more players.Furthermore I understand that the user: donflopez, is doing the translation to Spanish, I hope you still follow it, otherwise I would be happy to do so in the least possible time.According to what I understand. in a few months we will implement a new client / server system?Greetings

Yes, i thought multiple games. If you sometimes play tournament on paradise poker, just like that.

Yes, just simple php &#38; mysql &#34;account system&#34; :-)thx &#38; sry for my bad eng =)

sfts wrote:And connect user with some as mysql database for stats - chips, hands (ranks) etc. ?
Simple stats could be held at runtime (that's planned, too). If the stats should be persistent, they need to be associated with an &#34;account&#34;, which would need a login-system. Good idea, I'll keep that in mind!

<description>Hooray, today is the 1st anniversary of HoldingNuts!It took only a few month to implement a playable client server poker system (currently supporting Texas Hold'em No Limit Sit and Go). In its first year of development there were 4 releases, latest stable version is 0.0.5.Unfortunately progress stagnated for a while as all members are somewhat busy. There are nice changes in the current development branch such as graphical chip stakes and a minimalistic ranking system. We would like to read your suggestions for the next release in the comments.Thanks for all the good games on the public server!

<title>Player ranking system</title>

<description>Hi Kieran,you can always compile the sources on your own. The so-called trunk of our source-code repository contains the latest version. If you're unable to compile, contact me via email and I'll send you an (unsupported) binary of the latest server.About the website code: I recently released some of our website code for the statistics in the forum. But the code for the ranking system is somewhat dependent on our whole website (and I don't like to disclose the current php-code (for security reasons). However, it's quite simple code. Here's the idea behind it:
Code:$db_file = '/home/holdingnuts/.holdingnuts/server.db';
$dbh = new PDO(&#34;sqlite:$db_file&#34;);
$sql = 'SELECT uuid,name,gamecount,ranking,t_lastgame
		FROM players
		ORDER BY ranking DESC, t_lastgame DESC, gamecount DESC';
foreach ($dbh-&#62;query($sql) as $pstat)
	print_r($pstat);
The server (development version, trunk) writes the ranking into a SQLite database file. This file is read by PHP's Data-Object layer using a trivial SQL query.Hope this helps you for the start.

<description>Is it possible to get a copy of the server snapshot and website code for testing?!?I'm running a server for our local players here in Northern Ireland and the feedback I'm getting is that a leaderboard on our website would make things a lot more interesting.If not, when do you expect to release the next server version?!?Thanks,Kieran

<description>We are currently implementing and testing a simple and lightweight player ranking system.The official HoldingNuts game-server is already running a development snapshot which makes this feature available (and works with current client version 0.0.5). The system uses the client's generated UUID to identify the player and stores its score in a database. You can view the ranking on this website. For the next release the HoldingNuts client will ask on its first start whether the user wants to generate a UUID or not. If you don't want to participate in the ranking (may it be privacy concerns - although no private data is stored), you need to unset the UUID in your settings (however, the client reconnect feature won't work without it!).New Gentoo SVN snapshot ebuildIf you're using Gentoo Linux you might be interested in our holdingnuts snapshot ebuild, which allows conveniently building a snapshot from our SVN repository.

<description>As you may have noticed, development has slowed down over the last weeks. The only two devs are somewhat busy at the moment and therefore this project needs your help. If you're familiar with C/C++ programming and interested in participating, then contact us. Especially knowledge in GnuTLS is appreciated, as we are currently implementing support for it.
