Hello,
I am fan of HoldingNuts, is there any plan to make a port for Haiku OS ?
Thanks ![]()

Hi jeanmarc,
I'm very interested in Haiku OS, too. I recently tried to compile it, but I had problems to get CMake running correctly and I'm unsure about the current status of the Qt port this time.
Could you give it a try? If it's possible to build HoldingNuts on Haiku, I would be glad to provide a package.
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks indeed for your reply ![]()
I am sadly not a developer, I don't really know about Cmake, i know that the Qt port makes great leaps as you can see here : http://qt-haiku.ru/
Maybe you could contact the active developers via the mailing list (http://www.freelists.org/archive/haiku-development) They are helpful and kind with newcomer ![]()
Thanks again and have a great new year's eve ![]()

Yea, I recently read something about their progress, but I didn't go more into detail.

True. The devs are very responsive (I asked for something in IRC some time ago). As I'm interested myself in this OS and of course porting HoldingNuts to nice OS I'll give it another try (maybe in a few days/weeks).

Today I gave it another try. This is the result:
Needed:
* Released holdingnuts-0.0.5 source package
* Haiku Nightly build (r34863-x86gcc4hybrid)
* port of Qt 4.5.1
* port of CMake
* little adjustment of CMakeLists.txt (link against libNetwork.so on Haiku systems)
* Audio (SDL) disabled
I'll prepare a downloadable Haiku package in near future.
Edit: An experimental package for Haiku can be found at http://www.holdingnuts.net/download. Feedback is welcome.
Edit2: Can be found at http://download.holdingnuts.net/release/0.0.5/

Hm, it's working here. The Connection-Close button may hang for a while when you tried to connect to an unavailable host...but should work. Game->Settings seems to work here, too.
I'm wondering if I should have provided the Qt-lib (libqt*.so) within the package... maybe there's a problem with different versions. (I used Qt 4.5.1 for Haiku r99 (full)). I don't have any experience at packaging on Haiku.... I took a look at several packages and they all seem to do it differently (provide only binaries, provide additionally libs, have common-directory layout, ...).

Hi again,
Well, just tried again and the Games > Settings and > Quit don't work nor the Help > Handbook and > About ..
I can quit with the window yellow square close button though..
I'am running with Qt4.5.1 and Haiku R1 GCC4 34829 build.
I believe it's a problem with Qt since most Qt apps have the same menu beheviour...
Tell me if i can help to test anything,
Thanks datag
